Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by the new IUME website. We are thrilled to launch our new digital presence — one that we hope will be an improved way for you to follow, support, and collaborate with us in the years to come. Although we intend for our web presence to just be a sampling of what we do — a space that is easy-to-follow and up-to-date — it is certainly a work-in-progress, too. In the months to come, we plan on expanding our website and adding much more information about the work that we do. For example, we plan to add more robust descriptions and information about our current research projects (and those upcoming), with links to corresponding publications and contact information for the principal investigators. We hope the website can be, over time, a repository for relevant and timely research in urban education and beyond. We also plan on expanding our IUME history section, because, as iconic Harlem write James Baldwin once said, “history is literally present in all that we do.” These are just beginning online initiatives and we look forward to growing our digital presence in the months and year to come. After all, a new director and start for IUME deserves a new website, too!

In addition, we are also excited to inaugurate our “IUME blog” (that’s where you are at, right now). As part of our goal to keep a running tab on our events, projects, and other “news and notes” — and, perhaps most of all, stay in touch with supporters and other social justice advocates — this section will provide periodic updates of all things IUME. Updates will include recaps and pictures from events, partnerships and collaborations, notes from our staff, news about student accomplishments or upcoming publications. In addition, this will also be a space for us to interact with you, where you can comment and share our posts on social media.

So, stay in touch and check back frequently — and many thanks again for joining us in the path towards equity for all students.
